Scene One: Setting the Stage

Friday, November 10, 2023. 7:30 PM. A starry Miami night. About 75°. Two groups of friends head to Just The Funny, an improv theater.

Enter Fayez. Invited by his friends, he takes his seat on the right side of the stage.

Enter Emily. Invited by her friends, she sits all the way to the left, across the room. Earlier, Fayez had already noticed her at the bar, ordering a glass of wine. He thought to himself, “She’s beautiful, and I’m going to meet her before the night ends.” (Spoiler: he was right.)

Scene Two: The Spotlight

The show begins. Fayez is “voluntold” to participate by the host. The spotlight finds him, and across the room, Emily sees him for the first time. Her thought? “He’s so handsome.”

As part of the show, the audience was asked to come up with questions for the participants. Emily, too shy to ask herself, enlisted her friend to ask the most important one: “Are you single?”

Scene Three: The Meeting

After the show, Fayez and Emily finally meet. Conversation flows easily, though Emily’s face is bright red—not just from nerves, but from a facial earlier that day. (Excellent timing, right?) On her way home, she tells her friends, “I just met the person I’m going to marry.”

Scene Four: The First Date

The very next day, November 11, 2023, they meet at a bar called Taurus in Coconut Grove. Emily shows up straight after a 12-hour nursing shift. Fayez still says it’s the cutest thing—that even after working all day, she wanted to see him. (Talk about commitment from day one.) From that date on, they’ve been nearly inseparable, seeing each other almost every single day.

Final Scene: The Forever

The script writes itself from here—filled with love, laughter, and adventures. And now, they can’t wait to share the next chapter—or better yet, the next act: marriage—with all of you by their side. Emily and Fayez are ready for the greatest act of all: forever together.
